Lugol’s Solution<\/strong><\/h2>\n

(Jean Guillaume Auguste Lugol, 18.8.1786 \u2013 16.9.1851) consists of 5% iodine and 10% potassium iodide. It is an antiseptic with strong antibacterial, antiviral, and antifungal properties. Official medicine now primarily recommends it for external use, and only in exceptional cases for the acute treatment of certain endocrine diseases. Historically, Lugol’s solution<\/strong> has been used to treat many diseases \u2013 doctors have used it for over 150 years. Lugol’s solution is, of course, very cheap and cannot be patented, which may be another reason for its limited use by the pharmaceutical industry. Iodine deficiency<\/strong> in the body is a global problem today. The reasons are improper land use and soil depletion, as well as pollution, because a body full of toxins cannot absorb and utilize sufficient amounts of iodine.<\/p>\n

How much iodine does the body need?<\/h2>\n

Some studies have shown that the human body can accumulate up to 1500 mg of iodine. The average thyroid contains about 9 mg of iodine, but with iodine supplements, the thyroid can retain up to 50 mg of iodine.<\/p>\n

Thus, the thyroid<\/strong> needs about 6 mg of iodine daily to function normally. Breast tissue requires about 5 mg daily to maintain health. Tall women and women with large breasts have a higher need for iodine, while men need less. Other tissues, such as the thymus, adrenal glands, ovaries<\/strong>, pituitary gland, and pineal gland, require about 2 mg of iodine daily.<\/p>\n

The Japanese consume an average of 13.8 mg of iodine daily, while the average American consumes only 138 micrograms of iodine daily. At the same time, Americans have the highest percentage of breast cancer in the world, while the Japanese have the lowest. Similarly, the life expectancy in the USA is 77.85 years, while it is 81.25 years in Japan.<\/p>\n

More about the healing effects of iodine and Lugol’s solution<\/h2>\n

Iodine is essential for the health of the prostate, breasts<\/strong>, ovaries, and especially the thyroid gland. Deficiency leads to an increased risk of thyroid cancer and, in women, breast cancer. A drop of Lugol’s iodine daily (diluted in water or juice), according to some doctors, eliminates the first stage of cancer development and kills abnormal cells circulating through the body. Improved iodine absorption is associated with a lower incidence of breast cancer<\/strong> and prostate cancer<\/strong>, and vice versa. Iodine is added in small amounts to certain types of table salt, but it slowly evaporates from salt. Additionally, the iodine added to salt has weak biological benefits, so the body does not absorb all of it, only part of it. The Japanese consume the maximum amount of iodine daily and are thus among the healthiest nations in the world. Iodine is also an excellent antiseptic and destroys bacteria and viruses that cannot become resistant to it. Some doctors have reported that Lugol’s solution is effective even in treating mononucleosis<\/strong>. Iodine is used to sterilize all materials and surfaces in hospitals.<\/p>\n

Why Lugol’s solution and not just iodine?<\/h2>\n

The combination of iodine and potassium iodide is the most effective because iodine alone is poorly soluble in water but dissolves well in potassium iodide; moreover, some parts of the body require both iodine and iodide. For example, the thyroid and skin require iodide, while the prostate and breasts generally require iodine. Additionally, this solution allows better absorption of both components.<\/p>\n

Dosage of Lugol’s solution<\/h2>\n

The recommended daily dose of iodine is 13 mg for normal body function (2 drops of Lugol’s solution). If it is a matter of illness, higher doses are needed, ranging from 6 to 50 mg, but under the supervision of a specialist. Along with iodine supplementation, it is advised to also intake selenium, magnesium, and omega-3 fatty acids.<\/p>\n

How will you know if you are deficient in iodine?<\/h2>\n

Take pure iodine (for disinfecting wounds) and apply it to a soft area of the skin (inner part of the upper arm or lower leg) about 15 x 20 cm. If the iodine stain disappears from your skin within 24 hours, it means you are deficient in iodine.<\/p>\n

You can buy Lugol’s solution from many local and international sellers online, but my advice is to ask the pharmacist to prepare it for you. It will be much cheaper, and you will be sure that you have bought the real thing.<\/p>\n
