Stomach ulcer (gastric or duodenal)
11. 10. 2012
Both gastric and duodenal ulcers can arise not only from common nutritional and metabolic causes but also from severe nervous and mental stress. Therefore, before nutritional or other treatments, psychological causes should be addressed or at least identified. People with a predisposition to peptic ulcers should avoid all situations that lead to mental stress, prolonged nervous tension, and irritability. Complete rest and relaxation from all existing problems and worries are almost imperative.
Dietary Approach
Anything that can irritate the mucous membrane of the stomach and duodenum must be eliminated from the diet. Meals should be small and frequent, preferably 6 to 8 times a day. Food must be chewed exceptionally well, 40 times per bite. It’s important that the food is well soaked in saliva. If the patient cannot chew the food well, it should be liquified or pureed and then chewed as if it were whole.
In acute cases of an active ulcer, whole grains should be avoided initially. Well-cooked millet with milk is best taken in small amounts at the start of treatment. Boiled white rice is also beneficial. Almond milk made from blanched almonds is very useful as it binds excess acid in the stomach and provides the body with high-quality proteins. Fresh goat’s milk heated to body temperature is also well tolerated. Fresh goat’s milk actually helps heal stomach ulcers; fermented milk products like yogurt or kefir are also effective. Brewer’s yeast mixed with fermented milk can be taken between meals.
Fresh fruits and vegetables should be avoided for a few weeks as many of them are particularly irritating. Potatoes, squashes, avocados, and fresh bananas are well-tolerated. All sour fruits should be avoided, especially citrus fruits. Sweet fruits can be eaten in moderation.
All fried foods must be eliminated. It has been proven that heated vegetable oils can contribute to the development of ulcers.
The following should be strictly avoided: tobacco, alcohol, black coffee, tea, chocolate, and all strong spices like white and black pepper, mustard, vinegar, etc. All of these are known to increase digestive juices, which irritate the stomach lining. White sugar and carbonated drinks should also be avoided. Avoid foods and drinks that are too hot or too cold. All beverages should be consumed at room or body temperature.
Treatment
Duodenal Ulcer
The most effective treatment for duodenal ulcers is freshly prepared cabbage juice (half a glass several times a day). If the patient cannot tolerate the taste of cabbage juice, which is quite pungent, it can be mixed 50:50 with carrot or celery juice. Fresh potato juice is also excellent for duodenal ulcers.
Gastric Ulcer Freshly prepared potato juice, preferably with a small addition of cabbage (half a glass to be drunk several times a day on an empty stomach).
Note
Cabbage juice, as well as potato juice, must be freshly prepared and consumed immediately. Even after one minute, the medicinal properties significantly decrease. Both juices contain medicinal substances that are lost due to rapid oxidation when stored.
Strong tea made from the root and leaves of comfrey, taken several times a day on an empty stomach (at body temperature) – is also a very effective treatment for both types of ulcers.
In extreme cases, a large amount of water can be taken to alleviate the pain from the ulcer.
To determine whether the ulcer is gastric or duodenal, the following symptomatic signs can help: a gastric ulcer causes pain after a meal, while a duodenal ulcer causes pain before or during a meal. Note that complete fasting, even juice fasting, is not recommended for a stomach ulcer.
In addition to the above treatments, I also recommend bioenergy treatments. Bioenergy helps boost immunity and calm tension, nervousness, and stress, which often cause digestive tract disorders.
